MM-VLBI Data Processing Workshop

General Information

General information

Dates: 8-11 June 2015
Location: Snellius building, Lorentz Center, Leiden (NL)

This workshop brings together a selection of the world’s leading experts on data processing for millimeter-VLBI observations, such as data obtained with EHT or GMVA. The purpose is to formulate our current understanding of the data processing from the correlator to the final science product. The focus will be on imaging and polarisation studies. A significant part of the workshop is dedicated to simulations of mm-VLBI data, which can be used to interpret observations, but also to verify the data processing results.

The workshop aims to be the first of a series which is dedicated to better understand and broaden our knowledge of mm-VLBI data processing, as well as build a larger community of experts.

Please note that this first workshop is by invitation only. Contact the SOC/LOC for additional participants.

This workshop is made possible thanks to funding from RadioNet3. Thanks to their support we can offer limited compensation of travel expenses for people traveling intercontinentally to attend this meeting. If you require financial support, you can contact the SOC/LOC, providing a budget and short motivation for your request. RadioNet3 has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no 283393.

The conference will take place in the Snellius building of the Lorentz Center.
Free coffee, tea and cookies are available in the meeting rooms. Lunch will be served in the canteen, but comes at your own expense.

Lunch will be available from the canteen, at your own expense

Conference dinner

A social dinner is being planned in the city center of Leiden.

Hotel

The hotel “van der Valk” in Leiden is at a 20 minute walking distance from the venue. They offer rooms at reduced rates if you mention the booking code ‘GF 14272 Lorentz Center’. You are asked to make your own booking with them. Please note that rooms are subject to availability, cancelation is free up to 24 hours before arrival.
Conference rates: €82 per night for single occupancy, €48,50 per night for double occupancy, both including breakfast.

Route from the hotel to Lorentz Center:

From Hotel Van der Valk Leiden it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Lorentz Center. From the hotel you cross the bridge and walk straight ahead. You will cross the busy Plesmanlaan at the traffic lights, and carry on along the Ehrenfestweg (bus lane/cycle path). Turn left into the Einsteinweg passing the disk-shaped building there, after which you turn right into the Niels Bohrweg. From that point you will be able to see the characteristic slanted Oort building on the right hand side of the street and the Snellius building on the left hand side. (see map).
